Stories about Wedding Dress

有關婚紗歷史的書籍繁多，簡單來說，現代純白婚紗起源于維多利亞時代的皇室婚禮，更早時的婚紗并沒有一定的款式與及顏色。在這里有兩個關于婚紗的故事與大家分享。
一、為了自已的光芒耀眼，新娘子都會配戴飾物。在十五世紀，法蘭德斯的瑪嘉烈公主就因為禮服上的珠寶過重，令她無法自己走路，最終要由兩名男侍從把她抬進教堂。
二、有時，在自己家鄉流行的服飾未必在他鄉被接受，這令葡萄牙布拉干薩王室的凱瑟琳公主非常尷尬。1662年，凱瑟琳公主下嫁英國的查理斯二世，她穿了一條用鯨骨圓環擴大的粉紅色裙子行禮，結果被視為過于寒酸。

You can find so many books about the history of wedding dress in the market. Concisely, the tradition of wearing a white wedding gown began in the Victorian era and the royal weddings. Before that period, there is no restriction on the style and color of the dress. Here are two stories about wedding dress to be shared.
1. The bride would like to be glitter. In some cases, the gown would be so thickly encrusted with jewels. In the fifteenth century when Margaret of Flanders was married, the result was so heavy that she could not move in her robes and had to be carried into the church by two gentlemen attendants.
2. It is definitely a tragedy when an outfit in the height of current style at once own court might not be so admired elsewhere. This happened to poor Catherine of Braganza at her wedding to Charles II of Britain in 1662, when her pink farthingale was castigated as dowdy.

The "traditional" wedding garb first appeared in 1840 London as Queen Victoria worn a white silk dress and Honiton lace for her wedding, and made it the virtual rule as we know today. The Queen was the first royal bride to have bridesmaids to carry her train too, which also set a fashion. There is an old poem about how the color of a wedding dress will influence the bride's future: "Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey, you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, you'll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, you'll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen, married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, you'll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink."
