Global Pride Parades


每年初夏都是同性戀人士大游行的高峰期，全球要求free love的聲音此起彼落，游行目的是為了紀念同性戀解放與及爭取同性戀權利，大部分的游行選擇在夏天舉行以紀念石牆騷亂。石牆騷亂發生在紐約，是同性戀者和警員間的一系列暴力沖突，始于1969年6月27日，在格林威治村的同性戀酒吧「石牆旅館」。「石牆」被認為是美國乃至世界現代同性戀權利運動的起點，亦是第一次有同性戀者拒絕警方逮捕的地方。

A pride parade is part of a festival or ceremony to commemorate the struggle for gay liberation and their rights. Most gay pride parades take place in the summer, particularly in June, to commemorate the Stonewall riots. The Stonewall riots were a series of violent conflicts between homosexuals and police officers in New York City. The first day of rioting began on June 28,1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Greenwich Village. "Stonewall" is generally considered a turning point for the modern gay rights movement worldwide, as it is one of the first times in history a significant body of homosexual people resisted arrest.

This year's Birmingham Pride attracted over 100,000 visitors from throughout the UK and is said to be the biggest free gay and lesbian event in the UK.
