The No.1 Drum Dance in the World

在中國山西省安塞縣，一名女孩腰纏小鼓，正在練習腰鼓舞。安塞腰鼓舞是一種獨特的民間大型藝朮舞蹈，具有二千年以上的歷史。獨具魅力的安塞腰鼓舞像掀起在黃土地上的狂飆，展示出西北黃土高原農民朴素而豪放的性格，及他們獨特的藝朮個性。安塞腰鼓舞是當地農民在節慶或農作物丰收時的一種慶祝活動，可由數人至上千人一同集體表演。安塞腰鼓舞表演氣勢磅礡，其精湛的表現力令人陶醉，因而有「天下第一鼓」的美譽。一九九六年，中國國家文化部把安塞懸命名為「中國腰鼓之鄉」。現時約有五萬多名安塞縣農民懂得安塞腰鼓舞。

Children practice the dancing of the waist drum in a primary school in Ansai county in northwest China's Shaanxi province. The Ansai waist drum dance is a unique, large-scale folk dance with a history of more than 2,000 years. Like a hurricane sweeping across the yellow earth, the dance displays the unsophisticated and wild character of peasant life on the Loess Plateau, revealing its unique artistic charm. The number of drummers ranges from a few to several thousand. When celebrating festivals or the bumper harvest, performers often stage a large-scale Ansai waist drum dance, which is usually performed by about 60 drummers. In some cases, several teams of drummers perform together in a 500- to 1,000-meter-long procession. The Ansai waist drum dance is called "The No 1 Drum Dance in the World" for its majestic performance and boundless vigor. In 1996, Ansai County was named "the hometown of the Chinese waist drum". Over 50,000 farmers in the county can perform the dance, a local specialty, famous across the country.

由現時至明年二月二十日，美國華盛頓的可爾可仁藝廊舉行已故美國畫家、普普藝朮代表人物安迪沃荷的「安迪沃荷遺產──安迪沃荷博物館的精選」展覽，共展出一百五十多件安迪沃荷的著名畫作、相片及雕塑等藝朮品。

The Famous Pop Artist Exhibition The new exhibit "Warhol Legacy: Selections from The Andy Warhol Museum" has recently taken place at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC. The show running till 20 February 2006 and features more than 150 paintings, photographs, drawings, sculptures, works on paper, and films from the renowned permanent collection of The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh.

The Child Soldiers 'The two sides of cruelty'

在兒童當兵已經不是駭人聽聞的事，重點是如何讓兒童回到純真的心靈世界。聯合國兒童基金會在世界和平紀念日、現于德國漢堡的聖尼古拉教堂舉行「冷酷的兩面」兒童士兵專題展覽。展品以兒童士兵的有關信息、真實照片和學生制作的藝朮品為主。展覽期至十月二十一日。

The UNICEF exhibition on child soldiers 'The two sides of cruelty' has taken place in the St. Nikolai Church in Hamburg, Germany. The exhibition centers on the situation of child soldiers featuring information, authentic photos and art objects by students. The exhibition opens on World Peace Day, the 21 September 2005 and will conclude on 21 October 2005.
